React Native has released a new version 0.63 on July 6, 2020 with some of the improvements.So in this blog we will see what are the changes react native make in this new version.

  1. Logbox
    Logbox is used to display warnings and errors.

    Screenshot of LogBox

    React Native completely changed the way of displaying the warnings and errors.The new logbox will make warnings and errors easy to debug.

    Now the log will provide the minimum amount  of information that is necessary to debug and resolve the issue.Logs should be formatted so that you can quickly find the information you need.

    Also, now you can see a pagination for multiple warnings and errors.So that you can see multiple errors at a time.
  2. Pressable
    Pressable is a new core component released that directly has a support to write onPress methods.The Pressable is released instead of using the old component called TouchableOpacity, TouchableWithoutFeedback etc.

    It was also designed to enable platforms to extend its capabilities to include hover, blur, focus, and more.

    You can learn more about it from the documentation.

  3. Dropping iOS 9 and Node.js 8 support
    React Native are dropping support for iOS 9.The React Native done this to reduce the number of compatibility checks.
    Also React Native are dropping support of Node version 8.So it’s recommended to use Node 10 so that you can receive all the latest security fixes and updates.
  1. Native Colors (PlatformColor, DynamicColorIOS)

    React Native now provides an out-of-the-box solution to use these system colors. PlatformColor() is a new API that can be used like any other color in React Native.

    For example
    You can use PlatformColor directly to set the color

    import { Text, PlatformColor } from ‘react-native’;

    <Text style={{ color: PlatformColor(‘labelColor’) }}>
            This is a label
    </Text>;

Other minor changes
You can now write the <View /> inside the <Text /> component that is not supported in the older version of React Native.
